How long until my order ships?
Orders take 2–4 business days to process before they ship. During sales and holidays, processing can take a little longer.

Our 30-day policy, how to start a return, and how refunds are issued.
Do you offer refunds or exchanges?
Yes. If anything is wrong with your order, we offer refunds and exchanges within 30 days of purchase. Products should be unused, in their original packaging and in the condition you received them. In some cases we can accept photos or other proof to confirm eligibility.

Contact us within 30 days of purchase at orders@americantuna.com or (866) 817-0497. We will email you a prepaid shipping label or arrange return shipping with you. Return shipping is on us when you contact us first to arrange it.

Returns that are not unused and in original packaging are accepted at American Tuna's discretion. Proof of purchase is required for every refund or exchange.

How long does a return take?
Returns can take up to two weeks to reach us, plus a few days to process. Refunds go back to your original payment method and may take several days to post. Exchanges ship on us with our normal shipping times, and you will get a confirmation email.

Items bought with a promo code or on sale are refunded at the price you paid. Clearance items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

If the item was marked as a gift and shipped directly to you, you will receive a gift certificate for its value once we receive the return. If it was not shipped to you by us, the gift giver may need to request the return. Either way, reach out and we will do our best to help.

Where is American Tuna caught?
Our albacore is caught in the North Pacific by U.S.-flagged pole-and-line and troll vessels fishing off the West Coast. It comes from the MSC-certified North Pacific albacore pole-and-line fishery. Learn more on our responsible sourcing page.

Quality, Nutrition & Prep
Raw packing, why you shouldn't drain it, shelf life, cans and nutrition.
Why does the label say not to drain the can?
We pack raw, sashimi-grade albacore loins into the can and cook them just once, in the can. The tuna cooks in its own natural juices, so nothing is added and nothing is lost, including the natural omega-3 oils. Those juices are flavor and nutrition, so mix them in rather than pouring them out. Read more about no-drain, single-cook tuna.

Yes. After the raw loins are sealed in the can, they go through a precise thermal process that fully cooks them and makes them shelf-stable. You can eat it straight from the can.

No water, no vegetable broth and no fillers. Our No Salt Added cans contain one ingredient: albacore tuna. The flavored varieties add only sea salt, garlic, jalapeño, or smoke and olive oil.

Five years from the date it was canned. The canned date is printed in the code on each can (see how to read the code). After opening, store leftovers in a covered glass or plastic container in the fridge and eat within 3–4 days. More in how long canned tuna lasts.

Our cans use a BPA-NI (“BPA non-intent”) lining, which means BPA is not intentionally added during manufacturing. These linings typically use polyester-based resins in place of traditional epoxy coatings. More on BPA-free can linings.

What is in American Tuna No Salt Added?
One ingredient: pole-and-line caught albacore tuna. There is no added salt, water, oil or broth. Each 5 oz can is hand-packed and cooked once in its own juices.
