Cookie Policy

Effective Date: August 23, 2026 | Last Updated: August 23, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how American Tuna ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on americantuna.com (the "Site"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include web beacons, pixels, tags, and local storage, which we refer to collectively as "cookies" in this Policy. First-party cookies are set by us. Third-party cookies are set by our partners. Cookies may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain until they expire or are deleted).

How We Use Cookies

Category Purpose Examples
Strictly Necessary Enable core functionality such as security, network management, navigation, and form submission. Cannot be switched off. Shopify session and security tokens (_secure_session_id, cart, cart_sig), load-balancing
Performance / Analytics Collect aggregated information about how visitors use the Site so we can measure and improve performance. Google Analytics 4 (_ga, _ga_<id>), Shopify Analytics (_shopify_y, _shopify_s, _shopify_sa_t)
Functional Remember choices you make to provide enhanced, personalized features. Language, region, saved preferences, Klaviyo on-site identification (__kla_id), Judge.me product reviews, Seal Subscriptions subscription management
Advertising / Targeting Build a profile of your interests and show you relevant ads on and off the Site; measure ad performance. Meta (Facebook) Pixel (_fbp, fbc), Klaviyo marketing identifiers
E-commerce / Cart Remember items in your cart, checkout progress, and recently viewed products. Cart session ID, recently-viewed products

We use cart and checkout cookies to remember items in your bag and complete your purchase, and we use retargeting/remarketing pixels (currently the Meta Pixel) to show you relevant ads based on products you've viewed. Several states treat this kind of cross-context advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — see Section 5 of our Privacy Policy for your opt-out rights.

Your Choices & How to Manage Cookies

  • Cookie banner / preferences. Where available, you can accept or reject non-essential cookies through our cookie banner or preference center.
  • Opt out of data sharing. You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising through our Data Sharing Opt-Out page.
  • Browser controls. Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site functions.
  • Opt-out signals. We honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC), where required by law.
  • Analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Advertising opt-out. You can manage interest-based advertising through the DAA and NAI opt-out tools.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. Because there is no consistent industry standard for DNT, the Site may not respond to DNT signals; however, we honor the Global Privacy Control as described above.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. We will revise the "Last Updated" date when we do.
